Katie - PA S1 ✹ Hull York Medical School
I am a first year PA student at Hull York Medical School and have been using the Matrix app since the first few months on the course. I find the condition summaries so useful and I use these almost daily to consolidate my knowledge on things I have learnt or seen both in uni and whilst on placement. I love the way the summaries are split into the different sections (e.g. management, investigations etc.) as it makes it so much easier to find exactly what I am looking for, especially if I need to find out quickly. As my end of year exams are approaching, I have more recently been using the app for the questions as well. I split the questions up into sections to start with after I have gone over some of my notes from the condition summaries. First, I try to answer the questions without using my notes. I prefer to complete the questions in practice mode as that way I can see the answer straight after I have completed the question so the scenario is still fresh in my mind. However, as exams approach and certainly into my second year, I plan to start using the exam mode as well to test my timing and accuracy. Currently, after I have completed a question, I will check the answer and read any information which is provided by the app. I then add any further information into my notes so that the next time I read over these I will remember the extra information provided by the questions. If the information I got wrong is already in my notes, then I will highlight the information to remind myself that this is something which I forgotten or struggled with when doing questions.
Overall, I really like the Matrix app and I find it is a very cost effective option for PA students like myself. It is useful as it is tailored towards the PA matrix whereas many other medical notes are not.
